For us the beginning of summer isn´t just about light traffic and afternoon coffee on the terrace, but also our favorite Fresh Summer initiative.

You know we consider company values more than just web-page claims. And while summer could represent offseason for some, we try to utilize hot summer days to organize events that combine business with pleasure – that is to have fun and build a team, but also enhance innovation, teamwork or problem-solving.

At Sygic we try to live and advocate our values; therefore, we support projects, which are aligned with them. We invited young developers from the project OpenLab to our office, which aims to contribute to the reform of education in Slovakia.

Innovation is one of our core values. At Sygic we are aware it is not enough to hang the values on the wall in the meeting room, so we strive to live them every day. We organized Innovation Days for the 13th time already. Innovation Days are our hackathon, where each of us can bring up and idea to improve our both product or internal projects and work on them for the whole two days. Every year, many of these ideas are implemented into our products and get to our customers.

They say you should never look back. But we like to do it anyway. Because what seems like one small step taken every day turns out to be a tremendous path at the end of the year. So we look back, count our blessings and then look forward to everything that is ahead of us for the next year. But not before we have some fun.

Innovation is in our DNA and our Innovation Days are becoming a tradition. In October, we organized this internal hackathon for the 12th time already, proving once again that we never run out of ideas. Out of 15 presented, half of them are likely to make it to the product and our users.

It is unbelievable that we’ve already wrapped up our 11th Innovation Day. One could say that such a regular event cannot be surprising anymore. But we again proved that there always is space for innovation and that we can come up with many ideas that have the potential to make it into the product and eventually to our customers. However, we first need to convince our fellow colleagues.

The best thing about end of the year apart from Christmas itself is the chance to slow down a bit and appreciate all the hard work of each and every team member that's helped to make our products even better. Sounds like a good pretext for a two-day party :).
